FAQ

What platform do you use for telehealth?
We use Zoom for all of our meetings.
Do you offer in-person therapy?
Typically, no. However, if you live on the island of Oahu and in-person sessions are something you’re interested in, I’m open to discussing this.
In what states do you provide services?
Currently, I provide services in the following states: Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Hawai’i, Idaho, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and West Virginia. If your state doesn’t fall on this list, please feel free to reach out anyway – there’s still the possibility I can become licensed in your state.
How long are the sessions?
Sessions are typically 60 minutes in length. However, depending on what works best for you and your circumstances, we can vary this length.
Do you take insurance?
No, not at this time. I’m only accepting private pay.
How do you set up an initial appointment?
Call me, email me, or schedule a free 20-minute consultation on my website! I always like to meet you first to give you the opportunity to see if we’re a good fit.
What is your cancellation policy?
Emergencies happen! I totally get that. Please keep an open line of communication with me and let me know ASAP if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. However, if you cancel within 24 hours of our meeting time without communicating with me, you will be charged for the full appointment.
Who do you work with?

I work with women from their 20s to 50s navigating challenging times in their lives.

I also work with parents of children on the Autism spectrum who require additional support or their own therapy.

I’m open to meeting with others who don’t meet these criteria to see if we are a good fit.

What do we do in our sessions together?

We meet in a virtual setting, where you are encouraged to enjoy our meeting from wherever you’re most comfortable. Bring your coffee, blanket, puppy, or whatever makes you feel cozy.

In our first session, we dive deep into your values to establish what is most important to you and how you want to live your life. We complete questionnaires to determine your starting point and use your values to guide where you want to go. With this information, we’ll target skills and behaviors to learn that will positively impact your life.

We will use those skills and behaviors to form individualized goals that will move you along your journey toward a more meaningful life.

In each session, we review your “in-between session” work, discuss a new tool/strategy/behavior to work on, and review progress toward your goals. The intention is to help you identify what behavior aligns with your values and choose those behaviors, even when uncomfortable.

What modalities do you use?
I use Applied Behavior Analysis and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in my work. Behavior analysis is a scientific approach to behavior change, meaning we set goals and collect and analyze data to monitor progress. ACT is an approach to addressing psychological flexibility. Through ACT, we focus on identifying your values, learning acceptance and present-moment strategies, and committing to making intentional behavior change.
Do I have to do anything in between sessions?
Yes! The main goal of therapy is to transform yourself; this doesn’t come without putting in some work. However, your work depends on what is important and meaningful to you, so it feels organic and useful in your life. Your “in-between session” work will move you toward a life with more happiness and joy!
Why telehealth?

Technology is powerful in being able to maintain our livelihood. Telehealth offers an option to create more accessibility for people, especially new parents at home with their kids all day!

Have an appointment in five minutes? No worries! Just slip into something comfortable and jump into our meeting. It’s so hard to find time in our lives to do anything for ourselves. If this is the one hour per week you can dedicate to making a change in your life, it may as well be as easy as possible to access.

How long can I expect to work with you?

That all depends on what you need! I always recommend a minimum of three months (12 weeks/sessions) to see progress. However, the intention is to teach you how to apply the skills you learn in your life. So ultimately, we aim to discontinue our sessions when it’s appropriate for you, and you’re living a life with more meaning, confidence, and joy.

Meeting new therapists makes me so nervous! How do I know you’re the right fit?

This is one of the main reasons I didn’t want to seek therapy for myself, too!

The truth is, you don’t. But know you’re not alone, and that discomfort you’re feeling is part of the process. Take this opportunity to accept that unpleasant feelings will come up, which is the first step toward a happier, more fulfilling life.

Will I need to bring tissues to every session?

Not necessarily! This approach differs from talk therapy in that we won’t focus on unpacking your challenges but finding solutions for you.

Our primary focus is looking at your progress toward your goals. We’ll identify the barriers that are getting in your way so you can confidently navigate them. Our sessions are, in a sense, accountability meetings where we learn specific skills and check in to see how “practice” is going for you.
